Snippets and catch ups and today's awwww....

The first group of travellers left on Sunday night... very exciting. Was still a slightly tearful occasion as they also had to say good bye to James and Jess for a year ... but meanwhile, they have arrived safely, and are currently in Salt Lake City. Had a chat on Facebook with them today and of course there were some issues - travel tends to create them!

James and Jess fly out to Bangladesh early tomorrow, via Auckland and Hong Kong. We have just had a dinner for them to say good bye to some of the family. We have an early start for the airport in the morning, so just wanted to add a couple of things here tonight.

I wrote recently on dressing up dogs... but since then, they seem tame. Check these out!

Yet this woman was fined for a pink poodle!!!

The recent heat wave in Australia, particularly Victoria, was written about by David at Authorblog when there was a bush fire near his house - his pictures are far to close for comfort for me!
On an animal side of things, I was sent these email pictures today of another side effect of the heat...
in Victoria the temperature has been above 44  degrees all week and they are forecasting another week of 40+ temperatures.  Power is failing, trains have stopped running because tracks are buckling under the heat .  It's just scorching.

and it seems that the people are not the only ones suffering.

Check out these photos of a little Koala which just walked  onto  a  back porch looking for a bit of heat relief.   The woman filled up a bucket  for it and this is what happened!

Milestone for the week: Phoebe has learned to roll :)

Enough for tonight ....

  1. No comment on the animals in fancy dress uggs..

The koala l have fallen for amazing bless him, he/she must have been hand raised.

  2. If I lived someplace where koalas hung around, I'd just go out and stare at them for hours on end. They look so cute. Of course, I've heard they aren't as cuddly as they appear.

  3. I did a post about this koala too.
Vetnurse, the conditions are so bad, a lot of wildlife are turning up at peoples doors, it is so sad that they are that desperate.

Phoebe is a very cute baby.

  4. Hi Fi, sorry, this has me in stitches already, but that's probably because of all the red wine I had this evening because you are the 20th 'follower' of my blog and we had a party! Welcome!!!!
It's late here, I'm off to bed now, but tomorrow I will take some time to get to know you a bit better. Thanks for 'following' me. Love you for that!

  6. That is quite though provoking Cottage Rose - hadn't thought enough about the wider impact on the wildlife etc... must be heartbreaking.

  7. Well, only very weird people with no respect for their dog and its' dignity would enter such a competition. Very weird people! (Although I must secretly admit that they are works of art, but no......a definite no-no! Poor dogs.)

Have to say that I'm a bit confused by your blogs' lay-out. Don't know where to look first. I'm a blonde, that's my excuse! :-)

  8. Cottage Rose l knew about the temperament hence thinking it must have been hand raised, I forgot that you have that awful drought over there. As usual the animals are the losers. Am glad that where possible "local" humans are able to help out and am sure that parks and wildlife are also doing as much as possible. Have seen what fires do to wildlife a horrific way to go.

  9. Hi Carolina - by the way - I am a huge black lab fan - have owned too... temporarily been lured to the blonde side myself with Goldie...!

Thanks for the comment - and have tweaked the layout a little - there is a lot on there, although it is also a resource page to find places... but don't want to overwhelm new people! Hope you have fun exploring it, and meanwhile, just enjoy the posts... :)
    Have a lovely day...
